What is Energy Trust fund?

Hi, I have just phoned British Gas to ask for a payment card so I can pay my current bill by instalments. When I explained why I was having a problem paying , lost my job etc. now on income support, the man on the phone recommended, and gave me a phone number for Energy Trust fund. Has anyone had any dealings with them, and how easy is it to set up? I have googled it but would appreciate any personal experiences. Thanks.

The BG Energy trust is ran by Charis Grants. BG give them money to help BG customers. They can also pay off more than Energy debts. If you request an Application form they then decide whether to help you. This part has nothing to do with BG as you need to meet the Trusts requirements. They will also ask how you got into the current situation and what you have done to resolve it. I have seen amounts from a few hundred to a few thousand being cleared off Energy accounts.
