BT have the option to block numbers. This should be free to all customers to use and block any numbers as many as you like.
You can stop private numbers ringing by asking them to stop these.0 -
This happened to me twice in one evening recently. On dialling 1471 I was given the number of the caller as 01422 249611. After the second call and getting the same number from 1471 I dialled it. A recorded message told me to ring 01274 838111, which I did. The company concerned were Swinton Insurance. After I explained what was happening the male person I was speaking to just said "Oh" and hung up on me. Incensed by the treatment I had received I phoned again and actually got the same person. I told him I was going to make a formal complaint to Swinton and confirmed his name with him to which he asked my name and hung up on me again. I have not yet had a reply from Switon either.0

I usually let the answering machine take care of these unidentified calls, but occasionally pick them up. I have recently noticed that some of them, instead of remaining silent, now utter an automatic "Goodbye" before they hang up.
So, no less infuriating, but presumably as a result of the new legislation. As soon as a rule appears, then people work out ways of getting round it.0 -

This has been going on for about the last 3 weeks.
Will they ever give up!
My phone has now fallen silent so hopefully I will be free of these telephone parasites for a while.;0
