Hi all,
I'm actually seeking some advice for a friend,i've always been self-employed so really i dont know how the PAYE system works.
Anyway he started a job last September at a university and has his national insurance and tax deducted before his monthly wage hits the bank.
He just wants to know if he needs to fill in some sort of assessment form(only that my deadline for my own is today),or is there nothing he needs to do?
Thanks in advance.

Todays deadline is for April 09 to April 10 so nothing to do with anything since last September.
But if he has no other income i.e. self employed, rental income, complicated savings (normally tax is taken from savings automatically at 20%) and is not earning near the 40% tax rate then as he is on PAYE he does not have to do a tax return.0 -
If he is on PAYG and has no other income, there is no form to fill in.
His employer will have used the info on his P45 to work out his tax to date.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
