Same with us - my son got 93 which would have assured him a grammar school place last year has he got that mark. This year however, he has been allocated his 4th choice which is the local high school. The standard must have been a lot higher this year. A tad disappointing, but life moves on and we will make the best of it.

I know Snowjo life does go on and maybe they are better to top of a high school than bottom of a grammer. What area are you in BAngor/Ards by any chance?

No, we are in Newtownabbey area. Last year Ballyclare High took down to score of 90, so a tad disappointed when he didn't get in this year with his score of 93. As you say, hopefully he will be at the top end of Glengormley High and we'll have to work hard to ensure he stays there.

Oh right we live in Ards and my daughter wanted Glenlola, Bloomfield or Strathearn but has ended up with Bangor Academy. My cousin lives in Ballyclare and her daughter didnt get into Ballyclare High either with 92, she was very disppointed but she is going to LArne Grammer but the only thing is no-one else from her school is going so she will be on her own.

Hi all, we were away last night, just home and catching up here.

Well done to everyone that got their schools and very sorry to hear of the kids that didn't get their choice.

My daughter got the school she wanted, Hunter House. She was crying and shaking and in a tizzy when she seen the letter.

Lisburnmum, I know of someone got into Wallace with 101 and someone that didn't with 101. Criteria must have applied there. So scores here must be the same as last year. I think criteria was applied to scores between 101 and 105. I really feel for you, it really does seem so unfair.

    Hi

I was just wondering if anyone had any info on the cut off marks? My dd didn't get into grosvenor, her first choice school, with a score of 101! We were all a little shocked as last year the cut off was 92!
She has got her second choice and is taking it all quite well, but is clearly disappointed.
The only cutoff I know is strathearn which I think was 94 (it's on their website)

Well done them for putting details up on their website in a clear and concise manner, perhaps others should consider the same:

Cheesy puff, my dd is from the same area as yours and got her fifth choice Bangor Academy .... she is very disapointed but we are determined to make the best of it, my eldest attends and is a top band class so I know what the school can achieve with the pupils who want to work but you must keep on top of them ...you dd will do well just keep an eye on the homework etc and if you feel your child needs more and is getting bored just give them a ring. Its not the end of the world and is as good as you both make it. Hope it all works out well for you both ..xx

Red Rag, I know someone who got into Grosvenor with 105 and someone who did not with 103. I think the 92 score from last year was with special circumstances. Anyone know what Bloomfield cutoff is this year? Just planning ahead for 2013 if the AQE is still about !
