Bounced Cheque Fee

The incompetent Carphonewarehouse have sent out two cheques to cover a mobile chequeback claim. After holding on for nearly an hour (0871 number :mad: ) I am still unable to get them to confirm which of these cheques has been cancelled and which I can deposit.

I have never had a bounced cheque so could someone tell me what happens if I just deposit one of the cheques and it was returned? Whould I pay the cancellation fee or Carphonewarehouse

I take it that CarPhone Warehouse have sent you 2 cheques instead of one?
Deposit both and if one has been stopped, it will be returned to you, CPW may have paid a fee to stop the cheque, you shouldn't be charged unless you go overdrawn because of it.
Could also pop into a CPW branch if you can to see if they staff can get through to the right people to find out on your behalf.
Would ceratinly write a letter asking for your call charges to be refunded though!

Some banks do charge the account holder a fee though, if you deposit a cheque which is then bounced. If you check first, and your bank isn't one of them, then I would go ahead and deposit both...
