Try asking in local shops if they can save a large box for you. Also ask the courier you intend to use what their packing guidelines are..so you know before you list what sort of packaging they require.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Depends on the packed weight but you can use standard parcels for weights up to 20kg (that would cost £14.69) and gives up to £41 of cover against loss but no tracking.
If you do use Royal mail then it will need to be very well boxed and preotected. It needs to be completely crush proof and not liable to ding or dent if dropped from a great height.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Homebase stores usually have a 'cage' full of cardboard boxes near the exit. Other big stores will most likely be able to help.
I have just started to use Collect+ (you can google them) which operate a courier service but you can drop parcels off at your local corner shop. They (and other couriers) tend to be a lot cheaper than Royal Mail for heavy parcels.0 -
I recommend https://www.parcel2go.co.uk for large items
Good rates and reliable.
You need to know weight and dimensions of your parcel, then go online and book your courier, there are several options.
It helps to have a printer to print the barcode and address...

With something like that which is very heavy, difficult to pack and ultimately the postage cost may put buyers off anyway, I find it's often better to list it for local pick-up only. I also usually list on a Buy It Now to guarantee the price I will get for it - if it doesn't sell quickly it can always be reduced/ relisted.0

The problem is baby equipment is a very highly scammed area and the OP then risks the paypal on collection scam. It is sensible to have a postage option.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I sent a maxi cosi cabrio off last week, used parcel monkey and it cost £7ish. I cadged a box from the local spar and then put the actual seat in a super big mail bag, then put it in the box. Then used a load of newspapers to pad around the seat so there were no gaps between the seat and the box then sent it off. Got there the next day and all was well. You will find that people will pay courier costs on Baby items and if you out it on collection only you wont get a lot of interest/bids (unless you are in a big town/city really). I never list as pick up only (Though I will allow pick up if asked) because of this. She has the loaded handbag of someone who camps out and seldom goes home, or who imagines life must be full of emergencies..0

If you have a large currys near you they have lots of large boxes out back that they let people have. ( I only know cos my daughter and son-in-law work for them) most places are glad for you to take them as it saves them some work.2008 wins
