I'm going back a lot of years but I had the same issues as you, I was in a council flat barricaded in every night due to the dodgy people around. I nearly died in a fire when some vigilantes set a flat below me on fire to 'burn out' the residents...I knew there was a dog in there and went in to get it out....I know, bad idea but I couldn't wait for the fire engines.
Anyway after being burgled 4 times in 10 months...they were succesful, there were many, many attempts to break in, I couldn't cope any longer. I slept with weapons near me just in case someone got in. I was young, 18 and on my own.....anyway I got a job and it was shift work, the first night I came back I had, yet again been burgled.
I went to see my M.P. the next day...luckily they had their 'surgery' that day.
I explained that I was a single young woman trying to work but living like this was destroying me and I was frightened, very, very frightened.
Anyway, within 3 weeks I was allocated another flat in a much better area. I ripped the wooden boards off the flat with my bare hands to get into it, saw it and signed for it.
Good luck, I truly hope you can get out, any way you can, if necessary I'd go into the private sector, or ask about Housing Association.
Go and see your M.P. asap.
I'm calling up the council q&a line tomorrow to find out when the next surgery is.
Thank you so much, you've given me hope!!! x0

Sounds like you had an awful time there Triker. I remember when it was easy-(ish) to get accomodation like that, my grandparents were getting hassled going back a few years, and they went down the council and refused to leave until they were allocated a new house, and lo and behold, the council gave them a set of keys to a new property that very day. Nowadays its very different unfortunately, there are not enough houses to go round due to the influx of immagrants in a lot of the big cities, and getting the council to actually do something is never going to happen in my case.I'm going back a lot of years but I had the same issues as you, I was in a council flat barricaded in every night due to the dodgy people around. Confusing Sam - didn't you have previous posts earlier this month asking about getting a mortgage with your Dad?I've got 15K, my da's got 5k, so that gives us a £20k deposit.
Can me and my dad get a mortgage together/ Does that work legally?
Or can only 1 person have a mortgage?0

I find hard evidence works as a levering tool, so phone calls to police, dates and times, contact any official who'll listen to you, be polite but firm, don't threaten anything but just keep being consistant. Seek out the anti social behaviour Officer, report your fears to them, community wardens if you have them, again note all dates, times, you are then presenting evidence to the council how miserable life is for you.
Diary events, officials need 'evidence' to action your request.
Can your Doctor write a supporting letter, there are young people support services, check in with them, sometimes they have lists of preferred private landlords, please don't give up but remain driven and focussed...again...good luck. xDFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

            Oh Ska, that sucks!!!
 :-( *hugs*
I don't mean this to sound like a total sympathy-seeking sob story but my parents died when I was young and I was living with family, but they had no room for me after a few more nieces and nephews popped out. urgh. So I was given this house as I was on homeless list. Was overjoyed at the time to have a place of my own and spent almost all the money I was left in will on renovating this wee flat.
Now realise if I move I will be billed for the removal of all my "upgrades", shower, flooring, coving... urgh!!!!!
Feel like a complete idiot for all I've done.
Why would you be homeless if you had enough money for all that? :rotfl: The council would advise you to move into shared accommodation and pay you the 'shared rate' of LHA. Do try to keep your story consistent, there's a love. :rotfl:Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

mmmm, I thought the same thing and followed the OP various posts.
Age given varied from 21 to 29, moving in with dad and seeking mortgage in one post, being in the perfect relationship in another, etc.
Either the OP has an overly rich fantasy life and is terminally bored....or s/he is trying to obtain a convincing argument from forum members which will help her to upgrade her - perhaps perfectly fine - council flat.

So why oh why do people look at us like we have three heads and tail on fire when we say "No, we are happy as we are".
Is there a time and date our relationship crossed that we both missed, where OH was supposed to go down on bended knee and I was supposed to prance around glowing with my tummybump?
 ==========================================================
 All very odd.
