Still waiting for you to confirm which circuits all these lights are connected to.No free lunch, and no free laptop

yea sorry the house is being worked on at the moment and not all light bulbs are in.
if i put all light bulbs in and turn all lights on and turn each breaker off one by one, i will then see which lights go off and know which circuit they are connected to i.e the downstairs sockets?
just FYI the wall lights have never been used or a bulb put in. the switch always set to off however this problem seemed to happen when our extension lead blew from one of the sockets
although i have never done the "test button" before so i have no idea if that has ever worked.
thanks0 -
have you changed the faulty RCD yet & checked the neutrals?0

......i did an earth Test with the test button on the CU and it didn't work with the RCD with the downstairs sockets.
Means it’s faulty and as well as not tripping on test it could also be tripping too soon in normal use.
I’d also check the neutrals for each circuit to make sure they are connected to the right neutral bar0 -
My suggestion - get a sparky in as its obvious there is a fault of one description or another, and judging by your comments / description I wouldnt have said you were competant enough to carry out any repairs. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0
