Smaller car but more insurance? Why?

could be a few reasons - including the insurance company taking the mick. Why not get a quote for both models from the same company and compare them directly.
Other things that need to be taken into account is age of the cars (newer cars may have higher premiums) - different specifications albeit as far as the insurance company is concerned anyway: (I was told my newer SX model was higher spec that my Suite - although the Suite was an SX with aircon so was really higher spec than the SX.)
Perhaps actually worth asking the insurance company themselves to justify why they are charging more. It has been known for some insurance companies to get vehicles placed wrong in their pricing.Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0 -
Cost of repair is also taken into account when deciding on a quote. A Matiz is more expensive to repair than a Corsa.0
