Deck mounted tap on this bath? Avocado corner bath 1500 x 750.

Hi all,

I have found the perfect bath for my bathroom....avocado shaped not green!

http://www.brighterbathrooms.com/bathroom.php/1399

I have already bought this tap...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Bristan-Java-Bath-Filler-Thermo-Shower-JTHBSMVOC-/280237424742?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Bathroom_Taps_PP&hash=item413f73c066

The huge snag is that the description for the bath recommends that wall mounted taps are used. I would need to fit the tap on the straight ledge against the wall at the pointed end of the bath, above the waste as shown on the photo. I can see that this ledge is fairly narrow - I do not want to buy this bath then ruin it trying to fit the tap.

Please can anyone advise whether it could be possible to fit the above tap to that bath at the spot I want? Does wall mounted tap *recommended* mean `DO NOT try to fit taps to the bath`? I do have some spare tiles so could consider making some sort of shelf for the taps running along the 1500mm edge of the bath - or could use white Upvc -though the shelf would obviously make the bath stick out more from the wall. I do have enough room for this I think but am more concerned about making it water proof ( will only be used for bathing as I have a separate shower)

If anyone can come up with a solution I will love you forever :D

Thanks,
Slinky

p.s. have looked for contact details to ask the manufacturer but they are overseas. Also if anyone knows where I could buy this cheaper please let me know.

Wall mounted taps are the best solution so I would reconsider your options.
  • Thanks Diable, I have already bought the tap but not the bath so I will have to keep looking for a suitable bath. I had planned a 1400 x 700 bath but this will leave only 400mm floor space to step out of shower....a 1300 x 700 bath means moving the water pipes and I wanted to keep this is simple as possible.

I may end up just fitting the new tap to the old bath.

    Thanks,
    Slinky

  • Lol I totally agree - I got the tap for £100 on ebay :T

The bath I would have been willing to pay the price as it is ideal for my bathroom. Sadly though it looks like the taps won`t fit so now I have to decide whether to keep the old corner bath (too big and hard to clean) or pay a plumber to move the water pipes for a 1300x700 bath. But at labour charges of £50 an hour I am reluctant to do this.
