Late Payment Fee HALIFAX all in One credit card

in Credit cards
Unfortunately due to my December credit card statement not showing up due to the snow plus catching the flu virus with the numerous bank holidays, I ended up missing my payment by one day. I would have done it online but I had the actual cash on me and needed to deposit it into my account.
This is the first time I ever done it and I've always paid on time before. Obviously I ended up with a late charge of £12. Anyway, I've paid a big chunk of my credit card off for the January payment... am wondering if my payment includes late charge fees?
Example:
Debt is £300, Late Charge is £12 and for example, minimum payment is £20. I assume as long as I pay at least £32, thats covered? (Though I paid £200 off).
Please help! Thankyou.

You mean £20 is shown as the minimum on the statement that also shows the late fee? In that case, £20 would have been enough.
By the way, it is worth phoning them. They might refund the late fee in the circumstances of a first "offence".0 -
And as a double-check, I'm assuming you sent them this chunk AFTER the next statement was generated. If not, then it won't count towards the minimum at all.
Eg (say)
Dec 10th : Statement
Dec 27th : Deadline
Dec 28th: Payment arrives (late)
Jan 8th: Further "chunk" paid
Jan 10th: Statement
You will now have to pay at least the minimum shown on Jan 10th, notwithstanding the fact you just paid an additional "chunk".0 -
Cheers everyone, thats a help
Just wanted to make sure.
To answer the above, I waited for the January statement to be sent to me and then paid off the big chunk. Even though I submitted the money a day late via internet, they didn't accept my payment for December.0 -
No way will halifax waiver the charge, it is automatic and apparently they have no control over it.
My account went over by £3.48 (this was after they had added interest to produce new monthly bill) and they slapped the fee on...even though in my entire adult life i have never missed/been late with a payment.
I understand I should have been more careful however i made one mistake and they had no compassion...nevermind:(:silenced:0
