Dont know where else to post...bank transfer awol!!!!!

I transferred some money from one bank account to another (my name but different banks) and it didnt arrive...i put the account number in wrong!

Is the money gone for good now...?

When you transferred the money whether by telephone or online banking you would have been asked for more info than just the account number. You would have had to give the sort code, account number, account holders name and possibly a reference number. If its online banking you would have a note on the account showing the payment. It cant be paid into an account where all this info doesn't add up.

Phone your bank and explain the error and they should be able to reverse it for you. It certainly isn't lost, they will be able to track it and put it back to the original account. If it is online banking some banks allow you to cancel a payment that you had arranged to go out of the account by yourself.
