if it will go half way in keep giving it a go. i wouldnt go to claires. i have a severe problem ith ear piercing guns - trying to fire semi blunt pieces of metal through your ears with a gun that has been used on other people and has got bits of them splattered on it eugh no thanks, see this for more info http://www.homiegfunk.com/gunssuck.htm i have lots of piercings myself so do have a bit of experience of this'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0

Personally i would go to a proffesional tattooist/body piercer. They do that kind of thing all day long and tend to use needles instead of a gun.
Asking around is probably the best way to find one. I wouldn't touch claires (For ear piercing anyways) with a bargepole!:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly0 -
My neighbour is a tattoo and piercing artist so I had my ears pierced in my house! I didnt wear earrings for a year, but I managed to re-pierce them myself using an earring0

seconded on the avoid claires and go to a proper piercer. I use Holier Than Thou, just up from Afflecks palace in Manchester, and I love it in there. It is just a piercing studio and everyone is fully trained. As well as that, they are great for aftercare and any problems you have with your piercings. Would avoid Afflecks though, just my personal opinion!0

ditto not going to claires. had my cartilidge done thier and it put me off as it was done with the gun, to find out a whaile later, it shatters the cartilidge done this way. and having a young(ish) darling jumping up and down shouting 'shes having it done'.
perhaps in a tatto parlour, esp if theyre hygene awarded by the borough, would definatly go and look at places to see what theyre like, talk to the people thier and so on.0 -
I got my ears re-pierced in a local beauty salon, with a needle. Definitely not Claires due to the cartilage shattering horror stories!
I do however agree that clean premises and good hygiene practices are the things to look out for wherever you go."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -

I finally bit the bullet and had them done last week at Claire's with a gun!
It wasn't too painful and they were really careful about hygeine etc, so far so good...0 -
No, they were just careful enough to make you think they were careful. The reality is that the gun is not sterile so there is a chance of the previous person's blood/germs being on it - which means that potentially you could have a nasty infection such as HIV.
Also, I bet they wore gloves, but they they change them? Gloves need to be changed regularly, especially after touching unsterile things, to do any good. They will have just put one pair on and left them, which does nothing.
How did they mark the placement? If a pen or similar it will have touched the previous person's ear, so you got their germs from that, too.
Guns force a blunt stud through your ear rather than piercing a nice hole.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209
