Argh!!! Signed up for a freebie on here and got more than i bargined for!!! HELP

Options
Hi all

A few months ago i signed up for a freebie off the main site and have now been delivered items that i did not order from the company. There is a delivery note and at the bottom of the page is "we appreciate your custom, payment received with thanks". I have never bought anything off this company ever and they do not have my details.
I don't think the items are part of the freebie, but i may be wrong.

I have tried to call them and its normal office hours, so will ring on Monday. However, where do i stand as the parcel was quite a big box and i don't want to fork out for their mistake to send it back!

Any advice welcome please?

Many Thanks
Holly

    What is the company?

    What was the 'freebie'?

Did you provide CC or bank  details when you signed up for the 'freebie'?

Sounds like a free trial for say, 30 days, then you start paying each month after that. What card details did you give? Did you read the small print? ;)

Sounds like a 30 freebie when you have to cancel at the end of it otherwise you are stuck.

Normally signing up for these 'trials' involves you giving them your card details,

'Which do this, as well as credit file companies. I would persevere in trying to get through to them and
have a look at the small print on the original freebie contract.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • I did not give any details like that only my address and name obviously.
It was with CJ wildbirds and was a free garden handbook (did have a catalogue mixed in the handbook aswell) as was interested in what birds were coming into the garden. Nothing has ever been ordered from the company!
  • Would this be classed as unsolicited goods???

Possibly, but I'm intrigued by the 'payment received with thanks' comment. Are you sure you've not given them any money?

  • Completely sure! I have never provided them with any details like that!

Treat them as unsolicited goods then. You are under no compunction to return them at your own cost or effort; they must collect if they want them back. If you contact them to advise you don't want the goods (which I strongly advise you do), they have 30 days to collect, after which point they become yours. If there is no correspondence between you and the company, the goods become yours after six months. During either period, you must keep the goods safe and in good condition.
