Just discovered the world of private caravan/ holiday homes

HI to all that post on here. I'm fairly new to this forum and through reading through old posts on here have just discovered I could have been saving myself a fortune by booking caravans privately at holiday parks (and of a better quality) than going directly through the holiday park itself.

Thanks to all who mentioned this on here and happy holiday to you all

You need to weigh up the cost of park activities (pool, entertainments etc) against the cost of private rentals. If there's only 2 of you it may be irrelevant, if you're a group of 8 then the cost could be substantial.

We only ever use the lodges we rent as a base to explore the area and rarely use park facilities.

Vikingaero true if there is a park permit etc many dont charge once your on site or everyone pays the same too. I go somewhere which is family owned with private caravans and chalets to hire . The family rent out some chalets (dont know how many poss 10ish)Others hire out chalets inc myself not much difference in prices between all some 3 beds some 2 . There is a pool, park , 2 clubs with occasional entertainment all free to holidaymakers once on site. The big places that charge extra for permits i find difficult to justify entertainment passes are a little too expensive normally,so dont go out and they lose about £50 per night in bar sales etc.
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world
  • well i cant speak for anywhere else but i know the private caravans we book at Butlins Skegness also include free entertainment passes for everyone in the price, so we have 100% exactly the same facilites as everyone else..
  • Yes, Butlins seems to be the only one that comes with the passes as standard.....
