nPower - No gas supply for 9yrs!
Hi all,
This is a bit of a bizarre issue...
Way back in 2001, the gas mains in my street was relaid. This entailed all the suppilise to the houses in my street being turned off for the day, and checked for safety house by house as the supply was restarted.
The men who inspected my meter and connections said there was a leak and condemned the meter, also sealing off the supply.
For 2yrs after that, I engaged in a to and fro arguement between nPower and Transco as to who was responsible for rectifying the matter as, at the time, I had a gas fire and heater.
In the end, I gave up and reopened my coal fire.
During a phone conversation with an nPower staff member back in December, he asked why my gas bill was zero and I told him the story. There was a gas fitter working in my neighbourhood so he asked him to call round and inspect the supply.
Guess what... There is / was no leak at all and I have been without a gas supply for 9yrs for no good reason.
I am slightly peeved at this but don't know if there are avenues of complaint/compensation I can persue.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

as it would be national grids decision for safety, doubt you will have any complaint except against them. Npower are just the billing company.0

I doubt you will be entitled to anything as you appear not to have been actively chasing (weekly?) for the gas supply to be restored.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
