Under Redundancy Notice But Considering Accepting Another Role With Same Employer.

Hi all, I'll be most grateful to receive some redundancy info.
I'm under a 4 week redundancy notice ending 31st of March 2011.
I applied for a totally different role, junior grade, less pay, different dept but with the same employer and learnt on Friday I was successful at interview and will be offered the role but they're still deliberating at what amount. (The maximum amount is less than my current wage).
I TUPEd to this organisation in April 2010 and my current redundancy terms are at one month for one year and I currently have 2 years and 3 months (will be 2yrs and 6months at the time of redundancy/ end of emp). My current employer says the calculation will be completed years. Is that right? My current tupe terms are under cscs. I thought it will include pro rated year too.
2, If I accept the new role it will mean detrimental changes to my current employment terms and conditions ie maternity leave, annual leave etc and also because there is a real risk of future redundancies and this will mean at the lesser rate of 1 week per year.
How can I ask that this new role be a new employment? Could I ask to start in 6weeks and try to get immediate redundancy for my current department?
Though my redundancy pay under cscs is not a lot it's much better than the one I'll be transferred to and I really need the money. I'm enrolling for a program that will cost me a couple of thousands of pounds and the money will help towards that.
Thanks in advance.

Wait until you find out how much they would pay you in the new role. If it is less than you get now, you should be able to say it is not suitable alternative work and therefore you could pick up your redundancy pay.
The state scheme and all the company schemes I know work on the basis of completed years of employment (for your case from the time time you began with the previous organisation) and there is no pro rating.
I don't believe that you could collect redundancy pay at the same time as having this other job with them lined up. They would need to offer the new role to someone else who would be willing to take it to avoid redundancy. You can't have your cake and eat it in this situation.0 -
As Littlevoice so ably says - you can't have a job AND a redundancy payment as no employer would wear it even if there were no other redundant staff to consider (except on occasion in the public sector!)0
