Cats not taking to new litter

Hi,
I've recently switched from clay cat litter to Bio-Catolet, & would like to switch to wood pellet litter permanently, as you can get huge bags in Pets at Home. However, not all my cats have taken to it. They're indoor cats & the youngest ones are 3 & the oldest is 15, so I understand that they are probably set in their ways & not keen on change.
I really don't want to continue with the clay stuff as it produces far too much dust, doesn't absorb odours very well, & irritates their paws. One of the cats has taken to peeing elsewhere on the carpet, rather than using the new litter. Any suggestions - should I mix half clay & half new litter & transition them over slowly? Will they eventually get used to the new stuff?
Thanks
Soph

hi, i would definately make the transition slowly, maybe less than half and half by the way the one is
protesting.
it might take a few weeks to change over fully.

This might sound gross but could you add some of their preferred litter, once it's been slightly soiled, to the new stuff so that it smells familiar to them ? Gradually use less and less so the smell of the old is less.
Little cats can be so sensitive !0 -
Gradual change is often better but some cats don't look wood pellets as they are very hard under foot. Naturally they like to go in sand and soft soil so hard wood pellets are probably very uncomfortable!
I use Cat's Best OKO Plus, my lot love it, it lasts for ages so is really economical and has amazing odour control. It's nice and soft on their paws too
