Program wont open?

I'm trying to open 'Paint' so I can paste a screen shot but when I click on it, the icon opens up in the task bar and immediately closes again. It's literally like someone opening and closing a door.
Why is this happening and what can I do to stop it so I can actually open the program?

Use the snipping tool to create your screen shots then, it's a lot easier - you can select full screen, window, rectangle or freeform - start >programs >accesories >snipping Tool.
Paint.net is still a good program though, far better than paint.
With the standard Paint, try right mouse clicking the icon and selecting 'run as administrator' to see if it's a permissions issue.0
