I NEVER use the recommended amount! I find I can get away with half for a full load and a quarter for a half load - even when things are quite dirty! (my OHs work clothes I mean). for badly stained stuff I usually bung in some bleach (for whites) or some oxy! napisan or biotex when i can get them is great if you want to soak the stains out first!0

When my washing machine went wrong (it basicially clogged up to the point of spewwing water everywhere) the engineer actually advised me to use half the recommended dose of detergant as this was what was causing the problem.
That was over 10 years ago ive always used half the soup and half the softener or even less if the clothes are not that soiled and ive never had a problem with things smelling or not coming up clean. Far cheaper and much simpler a fix than i was expecting!HSBC [STRIKE]£3223.20[/STRIKE] £2060.00Cap1 [STRIKE]£1724.91[/STRIKE] £1782.00OD [STRIKE]£939.78[/STRIKE] £200.00No 49 of £2012 in 2012.. £645.10 so far & Crazy Clothes £14.09/£100.00 ReducingtheToiletryStash2012 UU12/IN 20 March Grocery 0.00/£65.00 & LbsNot£s Lost 14Lbs0 -
When I buy tablets, I only use one per wash. Sometimes I add a spoonful of soda crystals if I am washing anything greasy - dishcloths etc. I too was told by a washer engineer that most machines do not thrive on a diet of hard water and too much detergent, unless you are prepared to flush through your machine on a 90 cycle frequently.0
