Got my daughter a Samsung Galaxy S for Christmas, when she tries to open up market place do download apps, it asks for a username and password. She already has one, that she uses on google but is not a gmail account and this won't work.
I have just signed her up to a gmail account and it's still coming up with the same error:
You don't have a network connection.
This could be a temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services. Please try again when connected to a mobile network, or connect to a wi-fi network. If the problem continues, call customer care.
There is then a box that say say connect to wi-fi.
The phone comes with a data download inclusive and at the moment it's connected to the home wi-fi network.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

I have now tried on two different laptops, one vista and one 7, and the phone is not being recognised at all. Can't get it to connect to either of the laptops or keis. The wire is working as the phone is being charged by the usb lead.
I'm stumped,0 -
my HTC Desire and Wildfire you have to say you want to see if. There are 3 options; Charge Only, Data Connection and something else.
You don't need the phone connected to a laptop or computer though. Everything can be done from just the phone you realise?0 -
Is she using the marketplace on the phone or through a pc.On her phone it should just load up straight away with the credentials also check if there isnt anything blocking the actual site on the phone or router.0

When you click on market, it begins to load up, but asks you to log in using google account. Can't get any further.
I have tried having a look a settings etc, and can't see anything obvious that would stop it connect to the market place or the laptop.0
