Cheeky buyer

We don't really sell on Ebay - more buy but occasionally we have put one or two items up.

We had three which finished last Sunday - all three sold, two items were paid for immediately (great) but I had invoiced all three buyers.

The third item hasn't been paid for yet - we have received emails from them, the first one on Monday saying that they get paid on Wednesday, so will pay for the item then....ok not a problem.

Another email came through saying that they would pay no later than Thursday.

Then another email saying that their OH got mixed up and he gets paid on Monday (tomorrow) and sorry to muck us around and would it still be ok to pay then.

We sent back an email saying yes, but if you don't pay monday then there will be a NPB complaint lodged.

So, yesterday, was just having a nosey around and looked at the people who had yet to pay and they have bought and paid for things after my listing ended!

I am not talking £5 under, but something to the value of £53 which was won on the Monday and there is pos feedback saying prompt payment!

I am well cheesed off with this - we have been accommodating with them paying, but the cheek of them!

Part of me hopes that they don't pay by the end of Monday so they get the complaint against them!

    How much was the item?

If they don't pay, open the NPB, but perhaps the £53 item took the last of their available money. It also coincides with their first email to you.

I don't tend to dig too deep with buyers, it's up to them to pay me, their circumstances are their own and if they don't pay me, I open the dispute, but what they've done with anyone else isn't my problem and doesn't get taken into account. It's not like I can do that much about it.

  • My item was £52.

Even if the other item did take up their last available funds, mine was won first the previous day so mine should have been paid for first (if they were responsible buyers - obviously not!!) and if they didn't have the funds to pay for both then they shouldn't have bid on both!

Well, yes, in that case I can see why you're upset.

Some people are a law unto themselves.

Again, I'm not saying don't launch the dispute. It's just getting too upset about this when it's not really under your direct control is a waste of time. Unless eBay was to make it so funds were taken immediately on items finishing - which would mess around with the auction format - NPBs are just a fact of life. It's not really worth getting stewed about other people's idiocy.

I would open the dispute now, to be honest, and then they have it hanging over their heads and they have to do something ASAP or lose out.

The one good thing is that due to value I assume this is going special delivery, so if they do pay and item is sent you won't have any silliness about item not being received.
