post office not paid cashback

Options
I am getting the "runaround" from them, I think. I took out combined house/contents cover with them on 20th Sept. I did this to get the £50 cashback. They took payment from my credit card on the 20th September and the policy cover started on 1 October.

I have not recieved the cashback.

I telephoned them last week, and they said it was because I have to wait 30 days after the initial 14 day cooling off period has expired. If this is correct it means waiting until 13th November which is on Monday. But this is not what it says in the T&C (I have this in a leaflet I picked up from the post-office).

Should I telephone them again today? And what should I say to get them to pay up? Any advice appreciated.

David.

  • There's no harm in calling them again. If you do, you need to have something new to say - mentioning that the information you've been given contradicts the leaflet you have.

By the way, what does it say in your own policy documents? This may vary from the promotional leaflet. Worth a check.

If not, see what happens on Monday.

Still nothing. I have made a "complaint" through their complaints service.

But the 7day deadline they promised to reply in as now passed.

What do I do now? Can I sue through the small claims court on-line?

I was thinking about opening a bank account to invest money in with them but now I'm not so sure if it's wise. I'll have to reconsider.

If they are saying 30 days after the 14 day cooling off period it probably means that they are only making the payments once a month (this is pure speculation).

The financial ombudsman service is the place to escalate a complaint to normally after exhausting the insurers own internal complaints process rather than court (if the FOS dont find in your favour you can then go on to court after but to date I dont know of any case where the courts have ruled differently to the FOS)

    Mortgage-free Glee!
I took out car insurance 3 weeks before the policy was due to start. The lady on the phone said it would be about 14 days after the policy began to be paid the £50 in the form of a postal order. I guess I was very lucky as I received my money the day the insurance began, so the cashback does work. Hope you have good luck with claiming your money!!

Thanks for the support. Good news. They have sent me a cheque for £50 so now they are in my good books again. I actually think everyone I have spoke to in their customer services team has tried to be helpful, but they have some system issues preventing the cashback from being sent out automatically.

I renewed my house building/contents with them mainly for the £50 cashback(and through quidco as well) and I got my postal order round about the time I was expecting it as well.It wasnt that long ago but they paid me pretty smartish. Seems like yours may have just been a bit of a glitch. Hope it gets sorted out soon.

Sorry for some reason I disnt see the above post!
