what does this mean ???

Its a long story but I checked up on a company on the Goverments companies house website and next to the co name is "proposal to strike off".
I am not entirely sure what this means and wondered if any of you clever people could put me in the picture.
I did read all the blurb but it seemed quite complicated and I'm not sure I understand fully what it means.
Any info much appreciated.

  • It basically means either the company directors have asked for the company to be struck off (removed, killed off, dissolved, no longer exists) this would happen if they no longer had a use for it, in other words the trade or whatever it was used for has ceased.

The other causes could be they have not fuliflled their legal obligations, filing accounts and annual returns.

Or they are the subject of a winding up order for non payment of debt.

The proposal is in place for 3 months to allow people to object, typically because they are owed money. If this is the case with you, call Companies House and find out how to file an objection.

Though if the company has no money then you are pretty much stuffed under most circumstances

Thankyou Petmidget, all seems much clearer now,it's complicated but I'm glad to say that the Company doesn't owe me money, could have been a different story though if I hadn't checked first, think I've just had a very lucky escape !!
    So many thanks for explaining.:T
