PCWorld and TomTom

Hi
I got a TomTom One for Christmas last year from my Dad - he bought it from PC-World in Derby on the 12th December.
I spotted a few weeks ago that the sound wasn't working - so asked Dad to dig out the receipt so I could take it back to my local PC-World (Bedford) for them to look at. I'm not sure when the sound stopped working, as I always have it turned right down.
Took it in last night, and after the guy tried all the different combinations of key presses and factory resets, agreed that the sound didn't work.
He told me there was nothing he could do in-store and I would have to return it to TomTom myself for them to repair/replace if necessary.
Now my question is, as I (or my Dad), bought the machine from PC-World and it's still within it's one year guarantee, don't PC-World have to take it from me and arrange repair?
Or is it up to me to contact TomTom direct and arrange repair that way?
Thanks in advance
Ian

my daughters tom tom which incidentally was also 11 months old packed up three weeks ago. Took it into pc world ( merry hill ) and they sent it away to tom tom. no questions asked. it came back after two weeks ..I would go back to PC world and insist they send it off. your contract is with them, not with the manufacturer. good luck0

Hi Carly
Thanks for the reply.
Is there anything I can quote to them, that they need to send it off, rather than me.
I find with PC-World it is really down to luck as to the type of service you get - some stores are great - others not so great!

Just rang TomTom direct and their customer service is BRILLIANT.
Explained the problem and the guy on the other end arranged everything with UPS to collect the device.
Just need to wait 5 to 10 days now for it to be returned.0 -
If you have given it to PCW to repair they would have just set it to TomTom anyway, at least going direct to TT you will get it collected/delivered to your home, BTW they have a 2yr warranty so keep the receipt0
