Disgusting beast ate fox poo - deal with smell?

Harley our lab, found something that smelt really good on the wasteground where we were walking. He darted back and forward as if he was tracking something then all of a sudden he found his goal and started lapping up a pile of sloppy poo (I'm assuming it's fox poo, he has never shown any inclination to eat any poo in his life before.)

I didn't get to him quick enough and he now stinks, the smell is emanating from his mouth. Is there anything I can do? He's making me sick. _pale_

Doesn't sound like Fox poo. The smell is like nothing else.
Mine ran down the riverbank and returned covered in human poo.

Wouldn't any normal being, knowing they'd be fishing all night, take a bag to poo in? They say dogs are dirty.!!

Dogs know no better. Humans should.

At least he didn't roll in it too. Mine does, well used to till he equated it with having a bucket of warm soapy water sloshed all over him! :D

Extra strong mints. A couple should freshen his breath up!

Once, many (many) years ago when young and a bit stupid, I had a dog that had eaten something that had died decades ago.... I tried and succeeded to give my pooch a squirt of Gold Spot.

It worked, just the once though!

A few months later I leant dogs don't like mint (yet I couldn't leave soft mints or xtra strong in my bag cause puppy would root them out!!)

Up until he popped his paws, even whispering a "squshhh" kinda noise with a bend your forefinger in a pressing down motion and he would freak big time and be round the back of the sofa.

Chews etc can help, make sure he has plenty of water and cheese and onion crisps with a bit of tommy sauce will make it a tad more pleasant ( Not a whole bag, just a few!!)

You could try one of those thimble doggy toothbrush things, but I have to admit, Will hated it although I do think he was traumatised with the gold spot by then!!.

    good luck!
I wish I would take my own advice!

My dog Lucy LOVES a good poo snack. She knows it's wrong, too...she looks so guilty.

There was the most vile heap of slimy poo in the park and she tucked in with relish. I yelled at her to "leave it!" and she did, but as she walked away she was licking her lips and the poo was all around her mouth.

Made me feel totally sick and Lucy was frogmarched home for a bath and an enforced teeth-cleaning session. I could still smell it on her breath for the rest of the day. Yuk.....!

i currently have a very damp and very fluffy collie/lab cross staring at me with really sad, pathetic eyes.

her own fault, if she hadn't of eaten and rolled in fox poo she wouldn't have needed a bath!

i found that byofresh dog shampoo gets rid of the smell quite quickly.

her mouth doesnt smell THAT bad, but if yours is, you can try mint flavoured rawhide, a raw chicken wing or possibly brushing his/her teeth? or, if worst comes to worst, lock them out of the bedroom tonight? : D

My dog likes cow poo over the field, rolls in it and tries to eat it especially after I have bathed him the fresh smell obviously doesn't suit him.
