if you put water out for the birds a drop of glycerine stops it freezing0

Once you've defrosted your freezer, rub some on the frost free surfaces and the next time it freezes up, the chunks of ice should be easier to chip off.0

I use it on cotton pads as a cleanser, 1 part glycerin to 2 parts water, brings makeup off a treat.
I also add a tsp to wine if I've made one a little too dry, it just takes the edge off.

You can also use it to stop the 'snowflakes' falling too quickly in homemade Snowstorms (which reminds me - I need to go and buy a bottle of it next week)

Carol - any idea how much glycerine for my cake icing? I don't ice my cake until the week before christmas, but the icing is rock hard by New Year!

Queen Delia recommends 2-3 teaspoons of glycerine for 450g (1lb) icing sugar and 2-3 egg whites. or 700g (1 and 1/2 lbs) icing sugar and 4 egg whites.0
