advice on existing HSBC card

Hi everyone,

I am looking at buying a new car and would prefer to pay for it on a 0% credit card and tarting til it's paid off. I have just received a 0% Tesco CC with a limit of £4600 and also have a HSBC card with a limit of £4000 and 16.9% APR

Obviously I would prefer to use the Tesco card but may need to increase the limit, would Tesco be willing to do this given I have had the card less than a week? If they are unwilling is it worth asking HSBC if they can give me 0% on purchases? They currently do 0% on purchases for 3months for new cards are they likely to extend this to existing CC holders?

I've asked before they said as i got £40 when i took it out in 1996, along with another £40 for the student visa card i took out a few weeks later they couldn't do it, i still can't believe there system even had that information on it.

well it was free money after all :0)

When they credit score you they will have given you the maximum limit already. The only way they will budge is if you say to them if they up it, you'll lower your hsbc limit. This usually worked for my customers when I appealed for a higher limit when I worked in the bank.

I have spoken to Tesco this evening and they say they won't consider raising my credit limit until I have had the card 12 months.

oh well maybe time to grovel in HSBC.
