Washing Machine Help Needed

Have used my washing machine "Bosch WFD 2072" all day, but on the last load both the rinse and spin lights were on and the machine didn't spin, this has happened before but normally i just remove half washing and spin.

Today though, removed half washing but there is only a humming noise, have tried to start a new wash cycle and the drum turns so not a problem there.

Anyone got any ideas as to what could be wrong?
Any help would be most appreciated.

is the filter blocked ? and there for it can't get rid of the water .

when my machine made a humming noise but didn't do anything the fauly lights flashed and it came up with blocked filter ( i have a whirlpool) emotyied filter, drained water throuhg the filter at front and worked fine after that.
  • Will give that a try, hope it works

You haven't just got the Rinse Hold switched on have you? Our Bosch (different model) has a button for that and when it accidentally got pressed, the machine appeared to complete the wash, but hadn't spun the clothes.

  • Mine does that when it isn't the filter blocked, but the outlet pipe full of crud and detergent residue and stuff.

Get bucket, lots of towels and old clothes on. Put kettle on and keep some back for use after tea is made. Make sure you have proper drain unblocky pokey thing/metal coathanger.

    1. Put towels down and open filter door. Check for spare change, tweezers, dog biscuits, whatever. Once clear and rotating freely, reassemble and try to drain machine by pressing and holding on button or selecting drain on dial (depends on model which works). Have a cup of tea.

    2. If unsuccessful, put bucket under where drain hose connects to drain. Detach hose and drop straight into bucket. Be prepared for very bad smell and lots of water. Squeeze pipe. If pipe is hard, then it's full of nastiness and undrained water. Send OH to empty bucket in loo whilst you hold the pipe up, possibly with your thumb in the end. When the bucket is brought back, tell OH to make tea.

Use pokey thingy to see if that dislodges gunk and grey, gritty slime and the like :(. Expect more smelly water. Use hot water, soap (like stardrops) and pokey thingy to try and clean/flush through outlet hose.

Holding pipe and being ready to exchange buckets, drain machine. This clears out pipe, empties stinky machine of water and ensures that if the blockage is in the drain, you don't have to go through emptying the machine again.

Ask OH if there are any biscuits in the cupboard for your next cuppa.

    3. If 2 doesn't work, use pokey thing to try and clear drain.

    4. Have a cup of tea.

    5. Call washing machine repair man.
  • Thank you for all your suggestions, I knew my fellow MSE'ers would come up with the answer without resorting to the repair man.

Tried the most simple and fortunatley it worked, it was the drain thingy blocked by my DD hair grips!!!!!

Thank you again for all your help :-)
