You may receive contributions based JSA if you've paid NI in the relevant tax years.

You'd receive £65.45 per week if you're over 25. This raises a bit in April.

You will qualify for Contributory based JSA - for 6 months.

Your claim will start from the date that you call up to register it, and best to do that on the day after you have been let go buy your company.

The application will take 30-45 mins over the phone (DONT DO IT ON THE NET IT WILL GET LOST!)

And you will need your National insurance number, last 3 payslips and details of your savings

    New claims number = 0800556688

for contributions based JSA your savings are irrelevant, as you are eligable based on your NI contributions.
savings only affect income based JSA.

Me either. It's handy for claiming when no ones working. My last day of work was Christmas day, so on Boxing day I claimed online. Got a phone call a day or 2 later, went in JC sorted it, done. Easy.

And as above you can have millions saved and still claim contributions based JSA for 6 months! For income based above £6,000 (?) it starts to affect, and £16,000 is the upper limit for receiving no JSA. But that's only on income based.
