Laminate on carpet?

Am laying laminate in kitchen/ living room and wondered if its advisable/ possible to lay it on top of existing carpet rather than underlay? Carpet is a cheap, functional wool mix.

we layed our old laminate on our carpet in the dining room. it was fine, but when we wanted to change the lamiate and replace all skirting boards we then took the carpet up and laid the laminate in the underlay that was under carpet.
  • have a look at Underlay4u it is a web site that has a few for sale starting at £0.99m2.

There other issue i have seen is about putting laminate in flats - there are solutions like using a underlay that has been design to reduce impact sound and again these are for sale at at £2.85m2
Go to the Laminate and Wood underlay section.
It also looks cheaper if you buy the roll
