double buggy recommendations?

Hi, I hope this is in the right place!
I'm currenty 21 weeks pregnant with number 2 and DD will be 17 months old when baby born. She is walking all around the house now and can walk to the car, but I'm thinking of getting a double buggy as I will be out walking lots and I don't think that at 17 months she'll be ready yet.
The only issue is we have a small car - a VW Fox and I'm just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for double buggies (preferably side by side ones) that fold down small.
Or would anyone recommend a sling for baby, and if so, which one, and moving to a buggy board for DD when is about 2 or so?
Sorry for all the questions, just want to get an idea of which way to go!

We had a maclaren when my oldest two were little (13 months between them) and it was the best of all the options I tried. The model we had isn't available any longer but the nearest equivalent is the maclaren twin techno. It is light and umbrella folds so fits in most boots. Also goes through most doorways as it's only a little wider than a single.
I wouldn't recommend sticking with a single plus a sling tbh. Everyone I know who has tried this has always ended up caving in and buying a double anyway. Once baby gets a bit heavier it's tiring carrying them all the time in a sling and pushing a heavy toddler too. You'll probably find you need the pushchair for the older one for at least baby's first year especially if nursery or playgroup is a bit of a walk away, as the older one will be tired after a session there. Mine only liked the buggy board for short periods, and by the time they get too tired to walk, they are often too tired to stand and hold on as well!0 -
That's brilliant thanks, loads of people keep saying I should get a sling, but I wasn't sure and I don't want to push my little girl to walk more than she is ready to! will look up that buggy

I think 17 months is too young for a buggy board. I use one now but my eldest is 3 years old. I think you can definitely use a sling, for the first few months at least, if you want to. My current favourite is a mai tei but if you prefer structured slings then I really liked my Baby Bjorn too. (Sadly, youngest is too big for it now.) A double stroller will be a great investment, even if you only use it for a few months. I have an Obaby, which is very cheap. It uses an umbrella fold, just like the Maclaren strollers.0

If you are set on a side by side, then there is no question a Mountain Buggy (and not one of the imitations!) the wheels pop off easily so you can pop them in the car separately, and go on really easily too (just click them back on)
But personally I would say with your age gap you will probably get more use with a Phil and Teds

I second the mountain buggy - the best double by far, for side by side. I really didn't like the idea of one child being tucked away in the phil and teds, and found it hard to push with 2 children in. There also isn't that much room if you have a well built child. I use mine for a 2 and 5 year old (she can't walk) and she still has load sof room. The mountain buggys are pricey -but they come up on ebay for £250 ish. I wouldn't bother with a buggy board, paid £60 for one and son either wants to be walking or is too tired and wants to be sitting.0

Thanks for all your replies. I think we have found the answer in that we have decided to get sell one of our cars to save money, so I'm going to get a double buggy that I really like, based on more factors than whether it fits in the boot of the car, which I can use all the time and won't need to fit in the car. I'm also going to get a sling/baby carrier so that if we do go out in the car, I can use the single buggy for my daughter and the sling for the baby, as I'll be out in the car a lot less.0
