crystals for pets

Options
Has anyone used crystals for healing on their pets? I have just started making dog collar pendants, and would like to know peoples points of view, before I market them.
Thanks everyone.

I use crystals on my dogs. They each have rose quartz in their beds and wear specific ones on their collars. the place I got them from wasn't expensive but I have seen them at huge cost. I also bought ones in fixed cages rather than the flexible cages that the crystals tend to fall out of. I have seen people with the crystals attached to the collars but I suppose it is more profitable to have them seperate so you don't need lots of stock of different collar styles and sizes.

One of my dogs is a large breed and very powerful so I prefer to buy crystals seperate and attach them as I can't be sure of the quality of collars that may be sold with crystals attached.

Thanks Ali-t. I am making pendants attached to a lobster clip or split ring, that can be attached to the dogs collar. So far I have made ones specifically for nervous dogs, depressed dogs, and ones for joint pain, hair and skin complaints, and to help dogs communicate. I've just put two on Ebay, so we'll see what happens.

If you're wanting honest opinions, I personally don't believe a word of it and wouldn't waste my money.

However for those who are into crystals for themselves, I can see that there might be a market to tap into.
I guess you'd have to consider the usual concerns around safety etc. If I were to consider a crystal pendant, my main concern would be mutt scratching herself and getting her claw caught in it, which she often does with her name tag, so I'd want to be sure it wasn't something she could damage herself on. Plus as she'll eat anything that looks round/ball shaped, I'd not want anything that she would think was a toy and would want to hold in her mouth.

Thanks elsien. It's good to have input. I have put on ebay that the dog should not be left alone whilst wearing the crystal, as getting caught was one of my thoughts too. They wouldn't be able to get to the pendant with their mouths, as they are designed to be attached to the d ring of their collar, so that shouldn't be a problem. I have also stated that it is not a replacement for veterinary treatment, just a complimentary therapy. I would put a note to this effect in with the crystals when posting. Any other thoughts anyone?

The ones I use are very small and smaller than the dog tag although they attach to the D ring. Their collars are left on all the time with the crystals attached and we haven't had any accidents. This may be because the crystals are in fixed cages rather than the bendy wire ones.

When I got mine they were all just loose in an envelope but I printed off the information about them off the internet but it would have been nice to have this in the packet e.g. what the stone is, its intended benefits and a picture of it etc

Thanks again, ali-t. I'm going to design an info leaflet now, and then off to the local feed merchant to put up a poster. Fingers x

Have you thought about contacting all your local dog training clubs and seeing if you can leave flyers there?

ali-t - I think you should come over here and organise me! I think I'm being a cowardy custard, and not thinking that the product is really saleable. I'm still quivering about what could go wrong, and would any dogs get harmed! Really appreciate your input.
