Can someone please explain why I am getting the following message when opening and/or checking my OE mail acc?
"The host 'pop3.mail.googlemail.com' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'pop.mail.gmail.com', Server: 'pop3.mail.googlemail.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11004, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D"
I have recently added a Gmail acc to my OE, making it my default account, it appears to be working as I can send/receive and it is now my default, I have 3 more accs on the OE, 2 being Virgin and 1 being Yahoo, Yahoo was the default but since I added and using Gmail as default the problem started so why does it keep giving the error when it works and how can I get rid of the message? I have tried several server names including ones that are on the other accs, but it is only this one that gives the error message.
TIA

The port 110 is wrong.
Check your settings as in davbs post.
Should be,
pop.gmail.com port 995 ssl
smtp.gmail.com port 465 ssl and for Outlook Express 'Server Authentication'Move along, nothing to see.0 -
Thanks for the replies, but before I start altering things I just want to confirm that I am receiving and sending via OE without problems and that Gmail is my default I, have changed my email in MSE to Gmail and reply emails are coming into OE without problems.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0

I have done the above, but am now getting a request for password and user name , both of which are saved and displayed, I have even deleted them and retyped them but it is still asking for them!
Error message now is;-
There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'pop.mail.gmail.com', Server: 'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [AUTH] Username and password not accepted.', Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
OK, I have been into my Gmail account, logged in, (using the info that I used for mail via OE), logged out, went back to OE, and lo and behold the error messages have disappeared..

But I shut it down last night and it was still happening this morning after booting up, it only stopped when I logged in and out of Gmail, although mails were being sent and received OK via gmail to my OE inbox?
Just noticed that I am now getting duplicate emails from MSE when a reply comes to a thread I am subscribed to!
