Hello, have recently got a new laptop with windows7 which is fine. However I have an old Palm Zire handheld which has all my contacts and diary on it which I used to sync with my old pc running windowsXP. Sadly this is not compatible with windows7. I need to save all of my data and hopefully copy it to something on the new system but am stumped as to how to do it. Have had a look on the internet but only find rather complicated things rather than a simple and possibly quick fix. Has anyone had to do this already who might be able to offer advice?

Have you tried installing the Palm desktop software in Compatibility Mode? This is reputed to be able to run most s/w that will run under XP Ok.
If that won't, an alternative would be to install XP under Win7 using Virtualbox. Sounds complicated, but it isn't in reality. Just make sure you go for the Oracle version rather than the Open Source one, as USB support is a bit limited with the latter.0 -
well to state the obvious here why not just use old pc dump conatcts onto it then copy paste notepad, usb flashkey into new pc and copy contacts from notepad that would seem easiest from where im sitting.0

(You do need a Windows XP licence though.)0 -
Thanks to all for the advice. Have had some success, have installed the Palm desktop software on the new system and copied the files from the old one on to a flash drive and then added to the new one. Not able to sync the Palm Zire with windows7, but at least I have been able to save and store all the information that was stored on it. Also I can highly recommend the desktop software as a diary and contacts store if you are running windows7 and do not want to use windowslive which has replaced outlook. http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/emea/zire/z22/unlockedeu/solutions/article/37014_en.html0
