Help!!!

My boyfriend was looking for a balance transfer as the 0% rate on his Capital One card (with a balance of £7000) had expired. At the beginning of January he applied online for an MBNA credit card, but at the end of the process was advised that his application hadn't been successsful, and that he should telephone them to pursue the application any further.

Subsequently he applied for, and got, a Barclaycard, and advised Barclaycard to transfer approx. £6800 to Capital One. This would have left him with a balance of approx. £200 on the Capital One card, which he would pay off next month.

We have now discovered that MBNA have taken it upon themselves to pay £7000 to his Capital One card, leaving him £6800 in credit! Having telephoned them to complain, they instructed him to request that Capital One transfer the funds to his current account so that he, in turn, can return them to MBNA.

However, Capital One are only willing to transfer £6800, which means he will have to make up the difference and be £200 out of pocket this month.

Surely this isn't fair? As it's wholly MBNA's error, surely they should liaise with Capital One and sort this out?! OH just wants to end up owing £200 on his Capital One card, which he will pay next month.

Any advice appreciated. OH is way too nice and was almost apologetic to the guy from Capital One on the phone earlier! I intend to call later but want some advice on where he stands!

IMO yes they should sort it out.

Just picking up on the last bit though, Capital One/MBNA might not well be willing to talk to anyone but the account holder.

    Hope it gets sorted out.
