Was in Icmeler last summer family of 4 2 adults 2 teens change money in the local shops do not use change shops as they were charging big time commission we used a little shop who gave me the same rate for sterling travellers cheues as if i had cash took 3k came home with just under 1k so that covered all food we were SC and did 2 trips jeep safari and boat trip ,Turkish bath and loads of clothes 3 course meals most nights we used a tour co on the beachfront in Icmeler didnt have any problems but be sure to barter we said we will do 2 trips and there were 2 families so 8 of us so the price was dropped anything else just ask you will have a great time wish wewere going again this year but we are waiting for cheap flights for 2012 out in march and we are all going again

Definitely don't change money at your hotel, as others have said, use one of the very many exchange places. Definitely don't book excursions from the hotel or tour operator either. Go into the local places - they all offer the same stuff - compare the prices, then ask what discount they will give you if you book more than one excursion with them. You will save a lot of money!
