Easy Jet - avoid booking fees

It is well known that the (hard to get) Visa Electron card is the one card that does not attract a booking fee when booking with Easyjet.
I have been reading on this site that the prepaid card Travelex Cash Passport is well recommended - as Martin says:
"Lastly, this is accepted wherever Visa Electron is, which means a few less stores than standard Visa or Maestro, though the vast majority of online retailers will take it".
Does this mean that the Travelex card can be used on Easyjet without attracting a booking fee?
I wonder? Any experiences?

Difficult to tell from the Travelex site(s) what you get - there seems to be a mixture of Visa unspecified, visa debit, visa electron and mastercard depending on what currency it's in and what country you buy it in.
Martin's statement is next to a picture of a euro card which has visa electron on it. Their sterling card from what I can make out (and it is confusing - they may have more than one type) is a Mastercard.
So - sorry don't know is the best I can do.0 -
isnt co-ops card a electron bin still?0

Coop no longer do electron cards unfortunately0

Its all a bit of a rip off really - the easiest way to avoid the fees to to book with BA or similar, they can often be cheaper by the time sleazy jet have added on all the extras.0

Halifax / BOS Easycash account comes with VISA electron.
They only do an unrecorded enquiry to open the account, not a full search, and the account doesn't show on your credit file, so I figure just open an EasycashCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Theres nothing difficult about getting a Visa Electron, Santanders CashCard account offers one, just apply for the basic account and the Electron is what you will be given :-)
Bit of jip just to get away with EasyJet booking fee's, but if you've got the time before the flight to apply and get it all set up, why not!0 -
Thanks all for your input. Looks like we might have a untested workaround here.
Guess I'll just have to buy a Travelex card and try it and see if it works.

It did work. I have a Travelex card just to book with Easyjet and didn't get charged extra but Travelex have now changed to prepaid Mastercard - not sure if Easyjet charge for this or now.Lightbulb moment Dec 2005 - debt £23700

By using a DC instead of a CC you will lose several protection features that come only with CCs + some CCs will give you complementary travel and accident insurances if you book your trip using these cards.
There are NO prepaid cards in GBP that will not charge you! It could be a load fee, monthly subscription or something else. The solution is Visa electron debit card with a current account but does it really worth it?0
