EDF gas prepayment card not working?! Now have no gas!! Who do i contact?!
Hello! My gas ran out this morning as i completely forgot to put my card in the meter yesterday after topping up. The meter isn't reading the card at all so i can't put the money on and it wasn't on emergency (also won't put that on either!). Every time i take the card out it is wet as though the card slot has water in it but the meter has a lid on the front so it shouldn't be. Is this why it's not working?
I don't know who to call? Every number i have tried is telling me that due to computer updates no one will be able to answer my call until next week!!
I have a 9 month old, i am freaking out a bit about how im going to heat the house/cook/get hot water.
Is there any kind of emergency number that anyone knows of?
Thanks in advance

Have you tried 0800 015 1733?
If it has the same message make sure you listen to the full message, sometimes once the message is over it reads you an emergency message or puts you through to someone anyway.
Good luck0 -

Thank you so much!! Just spoke to someone and am having an engineer round today to fix the problem.
Thanks again!!0 -
You need to find out how water is getting in the card slot. Is the box weatherproof/reasonably secure? Has it got any cracks/gaps in it?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

The box looks secure to me, it locks up and is only ever opened when i put the card in. Can't see any cracks but there are a couple of pretty big spiders living in there so i guess they must get in somehow! I've had a look and i have no idea how water is getting in there, hopefully the engineer will know exactly what's wrong.
Thank you for your reply, i will be asking the same questions to engineer just to make sure he doesn't get my card working but not fix the actual problem!0 -
Remember that the meter box is your responsibility, not the utility co's.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
