Provided you pay off the full balance by the date required on the statement, you don't.

No interest will be charged on purchases if every statement balance is paid in full by the payment date

If you don't pay in full - well what you say is true of many cards
  • As above, only if you don't pay off in full. All of my cards work in this way, AFAIK that's just they way they operate.
  • I think I wasn't clear enough in my post. My starting balance Zero. One purchase made - interest charged. On the back of the statement under the heading Interest it says "Interest is charged on a daily basis, so interest payments will increase the longer you take to pay, even before the monthly payment date." I could be reading that wrongly, but the events and the charge would indicate differently.

Check your terms and conditions. Section 3.4: "if you pay the total balance shown on your current statement by the payment date (and have also paid the total balance on your previous statement by the payment date) then we will not charge interest on purchases shown on your current statement. On all transactions where we do charge interest, we charge it from the date we first charge the amount to your account."

If you're paying off in full, you shouldn't be charged interest unless the transaction was a cash advance or a BT.

    What was the purchase?

Please tell us what you purchase was.
The only reason I can think is that you have "purchased" something like foreign currency, vouchers or gambling credit which is classified as cash and not a purchased.
You need to come back and clarify.
  • Same as Lloyds Advance card, low APR but not 56 day interest free period.

pay it off in full and dont pay any interest. simples.
  • If it was a normal purchase and you pay it off in full by the due date, you will not be charged interest. I've been using my Clarity card since September and have not had any interest charges.
