There are more options than you can shake a stick at. Google is your friend.

    Some hints...

    networkx
    netmeter
    thinkbroadband meter

router level monitoring is best as it will track games consoles etc. which computer based software won't.

    Look at

    PRTG (needs SNMP support)
MRTG (needs SNMP support and linux)

    Tomato firmware (not all routers)
DD WRT firmware (not all routers)

I have downloaded netmeter & thinkbroadband meter. One of these will be good for me so thank you for your most helpful reply.
  • If your using anything above Windows XP then make sure you get the updated NetMeter runtime provided by a user as that is the only version which is meant to work with Vista & 7. I haven't tested that as I use Netmeter regular on XP.

Remember that you need one of these on each device connected to your broadband.

Netmeter was garbage on Vista, hopefully the latest version works better.

    Thanks all.

I have the latest version of Netmeter now thanks to link from espresso. I only use my laptop for online stuff and it is XP.

So all sorted now as I want to compare these readings with those from my ISP.
