Wet Laptop

I threw up over my laptop yesterday and now I can't type on it

I left it to dry for a couple of hours - the keyboard doesn't not feel sticky but it won't let me enter my password and the screen keeps flickering - going off at one point.

Does this sound like it is beyond repair?

Is this something I can fix myself or do I need to take it somewhere professional?

Any help is appreciated - thanks

It really needs to be stripped down and cleaned out. You don't say how skilled you are, but probably best taken to a professional.

Well you could maybe do it yourself, if you have a digicam you should video yourself doing it so IF you get stuck as to "oh where does this bit go" you can review the video.

Sounds like it might have shorted the keyboard circuit unit though.

    Ewww.

Not the normal bodily fluid you expect to come into contact with a laptop though.

  • Vomit is highly acidic - it's probably killed the laptop. Next time, use the carpet like everyone else!
Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day.
But give a man a fishing rod, and he'll sell it and buy alcohol.

It was a bit of a surprise to me it came out of nose too

I left it for bit upside down and it seems to be working. I can't really type on it (only intermittently) but sure you only need a mouse for browsing

I instantly dumped what I could of the vomit on the floor but I only turned the computer off with the start menu. I left it plugged in, so that worries me a little. Does this sound if it will be ok?

firstly thanks for that, i might be dangerously close to losing my crisps! That does suck though - but trust me that's nothing!

I'd take it to a local specialist, i'd make a guess at it being borked, they're not best suited to being chundered on!

This board gets better every day ;)

Did you manage to pick the bits of carrot out?

Now you should know not to drink and type at the same time especially if you are under 18!

You could try popping it in the dishwasher (the laptop not your head) :D
