will computers connect to printer via router

The 2 computers we have upstairs have always had trouble connecting wirelessly to the router, 2 Xboxes connect fine. I have now hard wired them to the router which has made them much more stable online.
I used CAT5e RJ45 Ethernet lan network patch lead cables, is it possible for the 2 upstair computers to connect to the printer connected to my computer wired to the router downstairs?

If I understand the question correctly, yes - you can do this using network sharing...

in fact, I haven't (can't) because it seems there is no PM system on the site - use google and search for router printer sharing - the top link gives the best description...

Yes, you should just need to share out the printer on the downstairs PC, and the upstairs ones should be able to connect to it. Easier if they are all the same Operating Systems, but still possible if they aren't.
The downstairs PC will obviously have to be on when the others want to print.

the other alternative would be to use a print server - then the printer itself could be assigned its own IP address and run independantly of any host it was attached to.
