U3 vs Micro Vault vs Normal USB (Pen) Drives

Hi.
I am looking to buy a new pen drive as the one i currently have is 128mb - too small!
As i recently received a £5 play voucher, I was wondering if someone could tell me what the difference in the types of usb sticks.
I will be using it mainly for college work, but will sometimes need to store larger files on it (from time to time). I would be looking at about 1gb
Could someone reccommend a suitable usb for me?

Best to get a normal USB drive.
U3 sticks have a read-only partition on which 'advertisers' can install applications which run automatically when you insert the stick.
Don't know about Micro Vault.0 -
