Golf MKIV Petrol gauge not working

Hi there
I have a Golf GTi MKIV, and this morning the petrol light came on as soon as I started the car, and the petrol gauge was on the red. I put in petrol on Monday so I know I still had fuel in there. I filled up again and put £25 and still the same thing.
Does anyone know how I go about fixing this?

the fuel guage level sender in the fuel tank is faulty, take to a trusted garagr for inspection.0

The sender and pump can be the same thing in the tank, so it may be a bit more money than you'd hope. £60 for the sender, but £250+ for the pump too. If you can PM me the chassis number I can check for you...:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Is the speedo working correctly?0
