How long should you keep Utility Bills

Hi Folks,

I have been having a clear out and there is a pile of old bills. Gas, Electric, Water et al. I would going to keep bills from the last two years. Is this too long, too short?

    You should keep all bills for 6 years. After that they can't chase you for any debt.

    Heh heh , I have bills from over 10yrs ago, what was a shock was that I had used more gas Autumn in 2001 than I did in 2010 and the bill for 2001 was less than £27 vs over £100 last year :o
