WiFi networking an iPaq PDA...

I have a home network (Netgear Router, Desktop PC wired-in, Laptop PC wireless-in). All works ok.

I now have an iPaq 2490b with wireless, bluetooth etc capability. It can see my Netgear LAN but won't connect. It says "Available" then when I <click> "Connect" it says "Connecting" for a few seconds and then reverts to "Available".

Am flumoxed! Any suggestions as to what I try?

  • Is your router set to the correct wi-fi mode ? - the Ipaq will probably need 802.11b

    you will also have to use the correct wireless networking security settings.

  • what operating system is it running? 2003 or windows mobile 5?

    i may be able to help with wm5.

    as above poster has said it does sound like a B or G connection problem.

    I use my RX3715 on my wireless network ok - check all settings and ensure WEP / WPA codes are correct.
    Also check if you need to allow the MAC address of the Ipaq access to the router.
  • Thanks all.

    I must say I find all the terminology so damned confusing... and I regard myself as reasonably "switched on" technically :)

    I'm running Windows CE 5.0

    Some settings that may be relevant...

    My router is set to "b and g" (802.11);
    Security options are "Disable"

    Ah.......... I just noticed that I had to Add an unknown device to my Router Wireless Station Access List. I did that... BINGO! A result...

    Thanks again all...
