Can i use any charger/adapter that fits my Dell Inspiron laptop, or does it have to be dell specific? Or will any one that has the same plugs on it work?
Thanks in advance

You can use any charger providing it fits AND also supplies the correct voltage and amperage. HOWEVER, if it is not a genuine dell charger it will not charge the battery.0

It needs all three of the following:
Same output voltage
Same output amps
Same plug604!0 -

Actually with a Dell, in addition to the above it needs to report itself correctly to the laptop. As mentioned, if it doesn't the laptop will state no charger connected and will not charge the battery. Dell do this to block crappy third party chargers.0 -

you can buy a universal charger that will do all that is mentioned above and will charge other laptops.
