  • i somehow manage to keep the house clean and tidy, not sure how i fit it all in though lol

i spend about 10 mins in a morn tidying upstairs(open curtains, make beds, collect up pots, rubbish washing) usually when i nip upstairs to get dressed

empty dw, put wm on and clean up after breakfast before i do school run

when i get back i have a coffee(check emails and banking at same time) and play with youngest two for a little while then have 1/2 hour getting some jobs done, i usually have an idea of what i want to get done before hand so i can just get on with it, then another quick play with kids and chuck toys in boxes for lunch- we have lunch at 11.30 in week to get dd to nursery for 12.30, i always clear up the kitchen before we leave.

i get back just before 1pm then get a few things done upstairs while youngest is asleep, cleaning, changing a bed(have set days for when each one is done) wipe round bathroom, hoover(upstairs on wednesdays), put washing away etc..i spend no more than 1/2 hour doing this then i have coffee/lunch and study till 3 when i go on school run again. get in at 3.50 and get kids organised and put shoes etc away then start on tea, usually by time i have cleaned up after tea(load dw/wash pots, wipe table, sweep floor, wipe worktops/cooker) it is 5.30 so we have play till 6pm then tidy up time pjs on and watch tv read books till 6.45 when they go to bed.

im usually got them all asleep by 7.30 so i can have a shower then watch tv/read/study before bed

if i dont get thigs done then i dont worry, i like downstairs to be clean but if there is dust on lightfittings/skirting boards then i dont worry, i feel like between school runs, washing and meal prep/clean up i go round in circles lol
Have a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T
  • To pp who have commented on what i do in a day- Im a stay at home mum as you prob guessed so its my job so what i get done is no reflection on what others can/should do. I only live in a 2 bed new build flat as well. Everyone is different i was just commenting on what i personally do :)
Some people just manage to do it! As i mentioned in my post my familys home was always really clean but never at a detriment to our family time and my mum had 2 bathrooms and a toilet room to clean every day ;)

i generally try to do as much as poss before we leave for school. as i hate leaving the house in a mess, but i'm really struggling to get out of bed before half 7 in the morning at the mo, i was getting up at 6, but sure i'll get back into routine.. so before school i generally only get the beds made and bathroom tidied before we leave at half 8. the older 2 are at school, so i've only got 1 2yr old at home, so it very easy to do housework and he sometimes helps me.

if i'm stripping the beds ( monday job) i have to strip them all before school and try and get the re-made, and first lot of washing done' mondays i have about 4 or 5 loads of washing so i need to start this early. i always make sure all laundry is dried and put away same day so it doesn't mount up.

i generally have all afternoon free of cleaning as this is the time i use to start the families evening meal or make cakes or cookie's. sometimes my little boy will help, other times he just happy playing. i prob spend about an hour in the morning doing house work, and about half hour in evening. so i still get lots of time with my youngest who is at home.
i make sure before bed the lunch boxes are made, the dishwasher is empty and kitchen is clean and tidy before bed so when wake up i don't have to face tidying the kitchen before i even start.

i do hoover in the morning before we leave for school but i also hoover all downstairs after dinner aswell. we have 3 cats , one is a fluff ball so i need to keep on top of it. up stairs i hoover every other day.

after dinner, we all help clear the table away and load up dishwasher, while hubby and i clean the dinning room, the kids get their pj's and get ready for bed. i generally do the homework with kids soon as they get in from school, we sit at dining table with a drink and snack, so after tea we can play games and have quiet time before bed with is 7pm. All 3 children go up together, hubby and i take it in turns to do the bedtime reading, whoever stays downstairs will empty the dishwasher and give kitchena last wipe down. we do it as a team, so it isn't just me who does everything, but having said that hubby works all day, so i do the extra jobs in the day time, sort the cupbaords, food shopping, matress turning, grass cutting, painting etc etc on top of cleaning. but hubby like to help out,i never ask he just does. it works out well.
