Distance SR + Faulty Motherboard

I recieved a faulty motherboard from an online retailer, set up a return for refund on the 7th day after purchase and posted it the same day, it was delivered 2 days later. It arrived with bent pins (socket 1156) causing memory errors - easily reproducable.
I got a text message telling me to contact someone over the phone, and it's now too late to do that today. I am guessing this means they are refusing a refund and want to turf it back to me.
Since the return was actually set up and accepted on the 7th day, am I still able to use the DSR to nix the 'contract' and get a refund even though it's been in their possession for over a week?
It's £140 that I need back, I'm already struggling to sell a different mobo on Ebay for a discounted price

Under DSR you have to notify your intent to return within 7 working days from the day after you received the goods. You then have up to 30 days to return them.
In your situation, because the goods are faulty the Sale of Goods Act is more applicable than the DSR. You are entitled to a full refund or brand new replacement.

If you paid by credit card contact your card company and tell them you want to make a Section 75 claim.604!0 -
Thanks for the info, I didn't know the specifics. I paid by debit card.
I'll wait and see what the contact I was given says before I act, but I'll certainly be reading up on the SGA.0 -
Thanks again.0
